morakullan´s mouseryI got my first mouse 1983 from a dear friend, Anne-Lee Kleveborn (previous Berglund): the albino doe Athena. She was a sweet and calm mouse. Sadly she had a tumour and had to be sent to sleep in the age of 1,5 year. Morakullan´s was founded in 1989 when I had my first mouse litter, and has been a registrated breeding in the Swedish Mouse Club, SVEMUS, since 1991.I breed
TexelUntil 2007 the main variety I breed was the coat texel (reregogo). It is a combination of two coats, in fact astrex and longhair. And it´s very difficult to breed. Not because of the coat as much as I have to think about temperament, health and size. The body type on my texels where pet type. When I started to breed English Show Mice in Shorthair my interest in breeding Texels got a bit cold. There where some problem with health and I lost many mice with good fur and temperament. With a small genebase my Texel strain was doomed to be lost. So today (26th of September 2009), when my first Pearl are on their way, I decided to stop breeding Texels. I have been breeding Texels for 20 years! I love them. But there´s so many people in Sweden breeding Texels so the variety will not go lost. In all the Swedish Texels I can see my strain continuing... Pics of some of my texels

I´ve been working hard with understanding behavior so I can select only - in my opinion - mice with very good temperament and caracter, for breeding. I don´t breed on mice who are hard to handle, too active or
stressed, dominant too other mice, don´t like human contact and so on. I want the bucks to live together, so I don´t breed on very dominant bucks. Also if they have a bad smell I won´t breed on them. |
